The Chiringuito Playa del Muerto is a unique enclave on the Costa Tropical of Granada. Located on the naturist beach of El Muerto in Almuñecar (Granada), it is part of the network of associated beach bars on the coast. To get there, once in the town of Almuñecar, go west to the Cotobro neighbourhood, at the end of the Paseo Marítimo.
From this point we will continue walking for about 500 metres along a footbridge that skirts the cliffs, leaving behind our vehicle (if we have not opted for public transport or a bicycle), as well as any worries or stress accumulated by the pace set by today’s society, to integrate into the naturist life “of the dead”.
At the end of the walkway, integrated between rocks and vegetation, you will see our little oasis, automatically transporting you back in time to remember those first beach bars on the coast in the 60s.
It also has access from Marina del Este through the fishermen’s path, with spectacular views. We have sunbeds, a refreshment kiosk, musical evenings, cinema projections and much more.

Playa del Muerto is a naturist paradise surrounded by nature and cliffs, very close to the town of Almuñécar and La Herradura in the heart of the Costa del Sol Tropical, which is accessed by a walkway carved into the rock from the Playa de Cotobro through a small cove, and right in the centre of the Playa Naturista del Muerto we find its beach bar. In addition, from this beach also starts an old path called: “ruta de los pescadores” (fishermen’s route), which goes to the lighthouse of Punta de la Mona.
Today Discover Almuñecar helps you to know the Chiringuito de la Playa del Muerto, installed by the Aragonese saxophonist Justo Bagüeste, every summer since 2008 in this spectacular and hidden beach. This unique beach bar located in such a privileged enclave is part of the network of beach bars associated with this coast, but always carefully respecting the environment that surrounds it, so it is made with all kinds of recycled elements.
We can safely say that this establishment reminds us of the pioneering coastal beach bars of the early sixties of the 20th century. Because, as well as having sun loungers and a refreshment kiosk where we can have a refreshing drink after enjoying the Mediterranean Sea in the most natural way, we can delight in the cultural microcosm that the owner of this curious establishment creates every summer night.
Every summer night, under the stars, on the beach of El Muerto in Almuñécar, in his beach bar, we can enjoy culture in its widest sense thanks to the projections of classic films, musical evenings, performances, theatres, concerts and many more cultural activities, organised by Justo Bagüeste, on one of the few semi-pristine beaches that remain along the coast of the Costa del Sol Tropical, but very close to the urban centres of Almuñécar and the luxurious complex of Marina del Este.
If you really want to enjoy culture in its broadest sense, surrounded by authentic nature, in an atmosphere of tranquillity and a special atmosphere, you can’t miss the opportunity to come to the Chiringuito de la Playa del Muerto in Almuñécar.
