Juventudes musicales de Almuñecar continues to develop the Concert Programme of the 21/22 Season in collaboration with the Concejalía de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Almuñécar.

On Monday, 18 April 2022: there was the opportunity to listen to a group of contemporary music, the Trio Zukan, who performed an interesting repertoire under the slogan: “Nuevas Miradas” with great talent and genius, offering the audience a look at this musical genre, of which there is no opportunity to hear in the classical music circuits.
The concert began at 20 h. in the Theatre of the Casa de la Cultura of Almuñécar, performing the following:

PROGRAMNUEVAS MIRADAS

Begiratu Bi (2021) – María Eugenia Luc

Miles Away (2019)- Juan Luis Montoro

Haize, harri, harea (2021) – Zuriñe F. Gerenabarrena

Lantz (2016) – Mikel Chamizo

Batuccatta (2014) – Hugo Morales

It was a different kind of concert that requires more than just sitting in an armchair, watching and listening to the three performers, this ensemble brings together three unusual instruments such as percussion, accordion and txistu (traditional flute from the Basque Country).

In the origins of ZUKAN, the repertoire for this instrumental combination was non-existent. For this reason, its members decided to promote a project in collaboration with different composers with the intention of generating a new repertoire.

The only research imposed on the creators was to give their particular vision on such an atypical instrumental combination. All other parameters – duration, instrumentation, aesthetics, etc. were left entirely to the composer’s choice.

Each composer enjoys the opportunity to show his or her own sonic take on the trio. Zukan gives a new voice to his instruments and seeks new goals for them in an intense collaboration with the current compositional scene.
