Au moment o\u00f9 nous arrivons \u00e0 La Herradura par l’entr\u00e9e qui donne acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la route nationale 340, qui \u00e9tait la plus longue route d’Espagne, qui suit le trac\u00e9 de l’ancienne Via Augusta construite par les Romains, nous sommes chaleureusement accueillis par une sculpture spectaculaire qui se trouve sur le Paseo Andr\u00e9s Segovia dans le village de La Herradura.<\/p>\n

Il est tr\u00e8s facile de trouver ce monument puisque, comme nous l’avons d\u00e9j\u00e0 mentionn\u00e9, il se trouve juste \u00e0 l’entr\u00e9e principale du village.<\/p>\n

Il s’agit d’un monument en bronze de 1990, \u0153uvre du sculpteur grenadin Miguel Moreno, qui repr\u00e9sente la tradition maritime et constitue un hommage au terrible naufrage de l’Armada de Philippe II au XVIe si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n

La sculpture repr\u00e9sente un homme assis sur le sol, une jambe tendue et l’autre pli\u00e9e, \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la proue droite d’un bateau qui s’enfonce dans la mer, levant les yeux au ciel, angoiss\u00e9 par le naufrage imminent du navire sous les eaux implacables de la baie.<\/p>\n

Elle refl\u00e8te la rage et l’impuissance de ne rien pouvoir faire alors que le naufrage est in\u00e9vitable.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”4156″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space]

Le naufrage susmentionn\u00e9 est un \u00e9v\u00e9nement historique tr\u00e8s important car il a \u00e9t\u00e9 un coup tr\u00e8s dur pour la marine espagnole de l’\u00e9poque, car en plus de la mort de pr\u00e8s de 5. 5 000 personnes sont mortes (plus de trois fois plus de victimes que sur le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Titanic), parmi lesquelles des marins importants et \u00e9minents, des femmes et des enfants, 25 gal\u00e8res sur les 28 qui composaient l’escadron dirig\u00e9 par Juan de Mendoza ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 perdues, mais ce fait s’est n\u00e9anmoins estomp\u00e9 au fil des ans, Mais gr\u00e2ce au travail de l’historienne Mar\u00eda del Carmen Calero Palacios, dans sa th\u00e8se, ce fait a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 pour la m\u00e9moire historique car avec son travail il a \u00e9t\u00e9 possible de publier un livre tr\u00e8s document\u00e9 en 1974 et, plus tard, r\u00e9\u00e9dit\u00e9 en 1990, co\u00efncidant avec l’inauguration de ce monument.<\/p>\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cet important travail de recherche, les habitants de la r\u00e9gion et les historiens ont appris les \u00e9v\u00e9nements qui se sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9s dans les eaux de la baie de La Herradura et leurs terribles cons\u00e9quences.<\/p>\n

Ce fut une horrible trag\u00e9die, car ces 25 navires qui ont coul\u00e9 transportaient les familles de nombreux soldats qui se trouvaient \u00e0 Oran, et qui s’\u00e9taient rendus \u00e0 Malaga pour s’approvisionner avant de se rendre sur le continent africain.<\/p>\n

Cependant, en raison du mauvais temps, Don Juan de Mendoza y Carrillo, capitaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la flotte, ordonna aux navires de se r\u00e9fugier dans la baie de La Herradura afin de se mettre \u00e0 l’abri du mauvais temps. Cependant, les fortes vagues et le vent ont d’abord pouss\u00e9 les navires les uns contre les autres, puis ils ont fini par s’\u00e9craser contre les falaises.<\/p>\n

La statue est entour\u00e9e d’un groupe de palmiers, de rochers et de bancs de parc et est devenue un lieu de rencontre populaire pour les habitants et les visiteurs de La Herradura.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3537″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space]

De m\u00eame, tous les 19 octobre, jour du naufrage fatal survenu en 1562, cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement est comm\u00e9mor\u00e9 \u00e0 La Herradura par la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de diff\u00e9rentes manifestations culturelles.<\/p>\n

Bien qu’il n’y ait pas de protocole officiel \u00e9tabli, diff\u00e9rents actes sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement r\u00e9alis\u00e9s, tels que l’inauguration d’un pavage artistique, des d\u00e9monstrations de navigation et d’orientation destin\u00e9es aux \u00e9coliers, des offrandes florales, non seulement \u00e0 la m\u00e9moire des victimes du naufrage historique, mais aussi en souvenir de tous ceux qui sont morts en mer.
