You can already smell the smell of chestnuts in the streets and the promenade, in the mornings we see the children parading to their schools, dusk comes earlier each afternoon, without a doubt we are in autumn and at the end of October the streets, the shops and the shop windows are filled with pumpkins with disturbing smiles, illuminated with candles. A halo of terror runs through the streets because the terrifying Halloween party is approaching, its day culminating on the night of October 31, but the party and events will continue until the afternoon of next November 1, a holiday because it is the holiday of All Saints. And at Discover Almuñécar we are here to ensure that no detail of these terrifying days escapes.
As is widely known, Halloween is a festival of rather Anglo-Saxon tradition, however, little by little since the beginning of this millennium, the Halloween festival has been implemented step by step in the sexitan and Spanish culture in general. Since we cannot forget that Almuñécar, the oldest city on the Mediterranean in Spain, receives the sight of thousands of Anglo-Saxon tourists every year, in addition to having a growing stable population from these countries within its municipal area, thanks among other factors to its extraordinary and pleasant climate throughout the year. And since there is nothing more Spanish than a festival, it was a matter of time before this typical Anglo-Saxon festival was adapted between the traditions of the city of Almuñécar and La Herradura.
Therefore, we can now enjoy all the splendor of the Halloween party with its pumpkins and monsters flooding the entire city. In schools, clubs, among groups of friends, English academies, small costume parties are organized privately in which we can meet all the classic horror characters from little witches to vampires, zombies, frankensteins, skeletons, mummies, imps, serial killers and other film and television characters such as Jason Voorhess (protagonist of the Friday the 13th film saga) or Freddy Krueger (protagonist of the terrifying film saga in which a very young Johny Depp debuted, A Nightmare on Elm Street), and of course, Michael Myers (star of the endless saga of Halloween movies, in which Jamie Lee Curtis also participated), and even the Puzzle itself from the most recent great horror saga, “Saw”.
In addition, the municipality as a whole joins in on this festival by organizing several events, such as the “Addams Family” musical at the House of Culture and the Civic Center and the “Labyrinth of Terror,” in addition to the distribution of candy. All this organized by the Departments of Commerce and Festivals in coordination with the businesses of Almuñécar and La Herradura, on November 31 and 1, under the motto “Trick or Treat”, with distribution of candy, and invitations to attend the musical.
Since the businesses join this initiative of the councils and you can purchase tickets for the musicals in them, because the establishments indicated with the “Trick or Treat” sign will distribute a total of 1,200 invitations to their customers, 400 for the musical of “The Addams Family” that will be next October 31 at 8:00 p.m. at the Almuñécar Culture House and on November 1 at the La Herradura Civic Center, plus eight hundred invitations to attend the “Labyrinth of Horror” that will be installed in the Plaza de la Constitución next November 1 starting at 7:45 p.m.
For all this, and many more surprises that await you in Almuñécar and La Herradura this terrifying Halloween, don’t wait for them to tell you, come and live it, it will be a great experience to enjoy with family or friends.
