This is a luxury restaurant opposite the Puerta del Mar in Almuñécar, the oldest town on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in Spain, right on the seafront promenade.

It is a privileged place, where on the 19th of March 1971 this magnificent restaurant opened its doors to the public for the first time, offering since then the best of Mediterranean gastronomy to all its diners, so that every lunch or dinner becomes a real pleasure for the senses of its customers. Since then it has remained one of the most prestigious restaurants on the Costa del Sol Tropical.

Before becoming this luxurious restaurant on the sandy beach, this building had been the home of the famous old salted fish factory of the family of its founder, Fernando Jiménez. And nowadays, more than 50 years after its foundation on Saint Joseph’s day in 1971, it still serves the tastiest fish and seafood, and among others we can highlight the “arroz a la gitana” (gypsy rice).

But its menu is very extensive, and in it of course can not miss: the salmorejo or gazpacho, fried fish and a selection of meats, there are even special menus for coeliacs. The entire menu, and the daily catch can be found on their website, which is updated daily.

Also, thanks to the use of local products, they can offer some scandalous salads, with fresh tropical fruits, freshly picked from the trees.

But it is not only local produce from the sea and the Almuñécar market garden that is on offer, as another of its star products is tuna from the province of Cádiz. Specifically from the Barbate traps, these tuna are caught and then treated and cooked using sustainable methods, as well as being deep-frozen to guarantee compliance with the regulations governing the consumption of raw fish.

Another aspect to highlight is the magnificent views from its terrace, where tasting the fresh fish while feeling the gentle sea breeze becomes an immense pleasure for all the senses.

Don’t wait to be told about it, from Discover Almuñecar we invite you to come and discover and enjoy the luxury restaurant in Puerta del Mar, La Última Ola, which has a unique and different style. Here you can relax in its facilities and let yourself be seduced by the intensity of the flavours and smells of the delicacies offered with its Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine.
