Discover Almuñecar will introduce you in this post to a unique restaurant on the coast of Andalusia, thanks to several factors such as its unbeatable location with a special microclimate, and a unique and very welcoming atmosphere. All the inhabitants of Almuñécar and La Herradura already know that we are talking about El Balcón de Cotobro, on the beach of the same name. And so that all visitors to Almuñécar and the surrounding area can get to know it better and be seduced by its charms, we present the Balcón de Cotobro restaurant.
The history of this unique little corner of gastronomic pleasure began back in the 60s of the 20th century, when a small colony of Germans discovered the place and, seduced by the charm of Cotobro beach, founded the Cotobro Club, where they met to spend long evenings in a magical setting, thanks to the orography of the place that provides a microclimate that always varies positively by at least two degrees from the temperature of the rest of the coast, which is already quite mild.
It was later run by the famous Jacky de Cotobro, a chef who since 1973, when he settled on the Costa Tropical of Granada, has been a reference point for the most exquisite gastronomy. Born in Liège (Belgium), his entire career as a chef has been on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. After finishing his career as a footballer with the national team of his native country, he settled in Salobreña. There he began to stand out in the Urbanización Salomar 2000, becoming a gastronomic reference. Soon after, he moved to the bucolic spot of Cotobro.
After the retirement of the beloved Jacky, nowadays the Balcón de Cotobro has a daily menu and some special celebrations, such as tasting menus, etc… Currently the chef is Sergio Salgado, with a Mediterranean cuisine with a French touch and gastrobar style. It should also be noted that they serve you in English, French and Spanish, all in its large, spacious terrace on the beach with a very welcoming, friendly and friendly atmosphere.
Without a doubt, the Balcón de Cotobro restaurant is an exceptional place to enjoy a unique evening. Some of its specialities include red tuna with truffle and Burgundy snails, as well as tasting menus specialising in lobster.
It is also worth mentioning that occasionally you can enjoy live music with a different concert each time.
If you are spending a few days in Almuñécar, La Herradura or the surrounding area, and you want to enjoy a place with a special charm, do not hesitate and discover what it is like to enjoy the Mediterranean on the terrace of the Balcón de Cotobro restaurant.
